I'm theorizing that the friend that Bariss sent the child and its parents to is not Ahsoka but actually Asajj Ventress. Bariss while in hiding would seek not the person she previously betrayed but someone who shares her experience and even fought for the same side before; another former apprentice of Dooku's who has turned from the Dark! Asajj and Quinlan Vos are probably working on the underground railroad for force sensitives and survivors, so it would make perfect sense for Bariss to be cooperating with them by sending the kid's family their way.

The Morgan arc was mostly good and I was overall happy wit it but the Barriss arc shat the bed. After a decade since her last onscreen appearance they ruined her character by giving her a rushed redemption without any help and than she survives a lightsaber stab to the stomach.

Disney strategy is to simply continue to feminize Star Wars lore in ways that DO NOT reflect the OG 1977 starting point. But that aside, Filoni storytelling continues to demonstrate he has the best chops to shape the brand under Disney like no other (Why is Kathleen still employed again?). So if you turn an eye away from Disney ideological influencing campaign of Uber liberal feminism/ diversity train, you may actually enjoy the narrative itself. And that was the case to me regarding this Tales of the Empire Season one. 🤔

I personally like the growth of Barris. She was a confused and scared individual during the Clone Wars, but the horror of the empires atrocities gave her the clarity she needed to see that the Jedi (not necessarily the Jedi order institution) were right in their beliefs. The Sith ideology is just a bunch of nonsense, whereas the Jedi, like democracy is a flawed system that actually works much better for society than any autocratic regime. Dictators only win when chaos and misinformation plague society enough to generate confusion at which point people search for an egotistical maniac to look up to, even willing to give away personal freedoms. At the end of the day, the true villain of Tales of the Empire is Palpatine, as he ordered the destruction of Morgan Elsbeth's people and created the Clone Wars which made Barris lose her way. At least Barris had the clarity to realise she was on the wrong side even if it was too late. Morgan on the other hand, doubled down for the regime which destroyed her life and it led he onto a path of pain and destruction. Very sad story 😢

Miyazaki is not literal, he is not explicit, he likes to leave things open for the viewer to play and think about what is happening. Silences and pauses are as important as words and movement. And his stories sometimes do not develop in a linear way, but in circles. And this contrasts with American cinema, and much of European cinema. While Andor uses a two-minute monologue to develop the characters and shows each situation on screen. Filoni refers to an old friend of Barris, he does not give you the satisfaction of that reunion between Barris and Ahsoka, not even the certainty, because that emptiness, that longing, is what emphasizes the importance of forgiveness in the entire story, and the last chapter, the tension What fills that void generates is part of the narration of the story. Barris can find her way, her redemption, her second chance, because she is forgiven. In the same way that Vader can redeem himself thanks to the understanding and love of his son. Watched it this morning. Not as good as Tales of teh Jedi but still cool. Would have preferred some more 'Empire' in my Tales of the Empire. Would have been great to follow a Storm Trooper around; Or to follow a well respected trooper like Fordo (who we haven't seen in ages) trying to serve; even some politicking would have been interesting. Instead we got one story ultimately following a jedi(ish) and one following an Empire-adjacebt witch. Both great, but feels like more could have been done with the promised Imperial focus.

Saw had a noble conviction to take the Empire down but went about it selfishly. He deemed himself the one who made the calls and only worked well with those who obeyed him and followed his flag. He's essentially the resistance fighter who gained favor with a particular type of follower, and it feuled him to think his reckless and extreme decisions were for the "greater good".

Final episode spoilers- Crosshairs is super protective and concerned about how badly Wrecker is injured, coming almost 180 from his cold demeanor we see at the start. Granted his ordeal at Mt. Tantiss and interactions with Omega softened his cold exterior, but it was nice to see him care about his bigger brother.

Nah, Rebels was Filoni's magnus opus, that was the show he was heavily invested in the writing, and basically was his vision. Clone Wars was basically George Lucas, and later Filoni telling the show's writers to just do whatever they want.
